Healing Warriors Program Receives Grant Award from Disabled Veterans National Foundation

Fort Collins, Colorado – June 30, 2017 – Healing Warriors Program is honored to announce it has received a grant from the Disabled Veterans National Foundation (DVNF) for $25,000, which will fund 700 free therapy sessions designed to treat non-narcotic pain management, Post Traumatic Stress and sleep disturbance for our at-risk service members.

Ana Yelen, Executive Director and co-founder of Healing Warriors Program, said, “There is a great need for non-narcotic care therapies for pain management and Post Traumatic Stress, and that need continues to rise as more service members are returning from repetitive deployments. The funds provided by DVNF enables us to reduce our wait list for services and answer the call for expanded services in additional communities with large service member populations along the Colorado Front Range. We are extremely grateful to DVNF for championing our service members and providing leadership and example. ”

“Pain is often a part of life in the military, but chronic pain can be debilitating for so many veterans,” said Joseph VanFonda (USMC Sgt.Maj. Ret.), CEO of the Disabled Veterans National Foundation. “DVNF is proud to support this vital program because it offers veterans a chance to cope with their pain without falling into a life of dependency on pain medication.”

About the Disabled Veterans National Foundation:

Disabled Veterans National Foundation exists to provide critically needed support to disabled and at-risk veterans who leave the military wounded—physically or psychologically—after defending our safety and our freedom. DVNF achieves this mission by:

• Offering direct financial support to veteran organizations that address the unique needs of veterans, and whose missions align with that of DVNF. • Providing supplemental assistance to homeless and low-income veterans through the Health & Comfort program and various empowerment resources. • Providing an online resource database that allows veterans to navigate the complex process of seeking benefits that they are entitled to as a result of their military service, as well as additional resources they need. • Serving as a thought leader on critical policy issues within the veteran community, and educating the public accordingly.
